Mac vs. Windows: Considering a Switch?

With all of the excitement around Apple and little (or at least not so much) around Microsoft computer products and gadgets, many may be thinking of switching from a PC to a Mac.
(Not too many going the other way ...)
Well, if that's the case, check out the fine article in yesterday's New York Times' "Circuits" section.
Anybody what to counter any of those observations?

August 15, 2006 3:29 AMI would always go by the Mac mostly because of the OS. boot camp or no, the Mac OS is a far superior experience and I plan to stick by that. also lots of devices, unlike popular perception ARE compatible with Macs (even some of the most popular cll phones : www.macandmobile.com)

You cant fully utilize your box with Mac compared to BSD / Linux.

No excitement around Microsoft gadgets? Every X-box they come out with will not stay on the shelves.
