Much Ado at DigitalLife

October 13, 2006

Well it wasn't a disappointed kickoff to DigitalLife 2006 at all yesterday!

(And didn't really expect it to be either; wore outs lots of shoe leather walking the floor of the Javits Center -- but walking is good for you, isn't it?)

We started with the launch of the Treo 680 from Palm (more about that later -- blog, blog, blog) and moved a whole bunch of wideranging topics of interest:

  • eBay University, which presented educational sessions and workshops to teach beginners and experienced eBay users alike how to sell with success
  • Launch of Final Fantasy XII, the latest in the best-selling Final Fantasy franchise from Square Enix (in stores October 31)
  • Gaming, gaming and gaming! Xbox 360, Xbox Live! and the latest games from Microsoft Game Studios, Square Enix, Konami, Namco, Vivendi, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts
  • More gaming!

So you wanna get your hands on some Viagra do ya? Perhaps even get your hands on some sexy lingerie. Well, I can help you get your hands on either one of these for about 29.90 EURO. Of course, technically you will only be able to use one hand on either of these items.

GN 9350 DECT 6.0 headset does PC, VoIP, and regular phone handsets

September 1, 2006

GN Netcom's GN 9350 DECT 6.0 headset (now called the Jabra GN 9350) is one of the most versatile headsets I have ever reviewed. When GN Netcom told me they had a new headset that did both PC audio and Phone audio, while leveraging the range and interference-free characteristics of the DECT 6.0 standard, I just had to review this headset. (Note: DECT 6.0 operates at 1.9Ghz so it is less apt to have interference from WiFi 2.4Ghz signals) With the GN 9350 you can get your "Skype" on, your iTunes on, and your phone on, all using one wireless headset. Sweet!

Update: Jabra now has the Jabra GN 9350e, the successor to the popular Jabra GN 9350.

Playaway audio books

August 23, 2006

No time to read a book? You can of course by a "book on tape" or "book on CD", but that is so yesterday. With Playaway's iPod-Mini-sized audiobooks, you can now listen to the books you've wanted to read but have not had the time.

These Playaway audio-books come with ear buds and a lanyard and run on one AAA battery. Of course, why not just download an audio book from iTunes?

New TomTom One GPS

August 17, 2006

TomTom One is a new portable GPS navigation unit launched for the North American market, that fits in your shirt pocket, making it easily transportable from car-to-car and to take on business and vacation trips. I got my hands on a TomTon One unit to review, but haven't fully tested all the features yet. Here's my analysis so far... The TomTom ONE utilizes the Version 5 Navigator software, not TomTom Navigator 6, which apparently is exclusive to the Treo smartphones at the moment.  The one also features Bluetooth support for TomTom's PLUS Services.

I'm a huge fan of TomTom products and have always been impressed when I review their latest stuff.
