Microsoft Lync 2010 for iPad 2.2 Released But No VoIP or Video

Microsoft recently released Lync 2010 for iPad v4.2. Features include rich presence, instant messaging, audio conferencing, and calling features, but surprisingly no VoIP or video conferencing. Instead it uses a callback mechanism for the voice calling. smiley-frown

You can connect to Lync conference calls with a single touch, without requiring long numeric passcodes or conference numbers as well as make and receive calls using your Enterprise Voice (Lync ID) number only, enabling you to connect with others using a single, consistent identity. Again, no VoIP though - it's a callback feature.

Lync 2010 for iPad provides transport layer security (TLS) and perimeter/internal network protection without requiring a VPN, so your communications experience is safer no matter where you are or what network you use.

What's New in Version 4.2?
This update to Lync 2010 for iPad enhances the Lync Meeting experience by bringing collaboration capabilities. After the audio call back, the iPad user will be able to view uploaded Microsoft PowerPoint presentations within a Lync Meeting, view the meeting participants’ list and be notified about other content types being shared within the meeting. An update to Lync Server will be required for full functionality. A nice improvement Microsoft, but you really need to get on the ball and get VoIP and video calling features. I mean c'mon, a small startup that pal Erik Lagerway (and former blogger) started called Hookflash offers VoIP and video for the iPad. Get the Skype team to help out if you need it!
