The popular Microsoft Lync unified communications solution unifies your voice, video, IM, and collaboration onto a single platform. Unified communications is a wonderful thing, but putting all your eggs in one basket means you better be damned sure you back it up! And you better be sure you can quickly restore a backup copy. Several solutions exist for backups, including tape backups, Amazon cloud backups, etc. But these solutions might take some time to restore. If you want a really fast restore of your Microsoft Lync setup, check out this script by Traci Herr which is run on a Lync Front End server that has the SQL client and tools installed. Essentially, the script backs up the CSConfig, LISConfig, Contact Lists and Conference Directories, all SQL databases and the certificates in the local Computer store.
