Texas Instruments TNETV1072 processor Supercharges voice experience Optimized for Microsoft Lync

The chip is targeting and is specifically optimized for Microsoft Lync. It appears Aastra and Polycom are both taking advantage of this chip in their IP phones. Check out the full news announcement:

TI’s TNETV1072 processor powers the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 IP phone platform, providing customers with VoIP capabilities and integrated desktop functionality

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) continues to build momentum in the unified communications (UC) space as it announces that  its TNETV1072 high-performance processor powers IP phones Optimized for Microsoft Lync.  TI’s processor enables the enhanced voice experience with UC functions, including presence, in advanced endpoints such as the Aastra 6721ip and 6725ip and the Polycom® CX500, CX600 and CX3000 IP phones.

TNETV1072’s robust C64x+ digital signal processor (DSP) core provides exceptional high-definition voice and wideband acoustic echo cancellation capabilities offering richer voice quality to its users.  The processor and the software together provide users with voice quality by implementing the Microsoft Real Time Audio (RTA) codec and Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) in software.   Integration of peripherals onto the chip such as a Gigabit Ethernet switch and a high performance audio codec are well-suited for multimedia phones and reduce system complexity and bill of materials (BOM) costs.

TI’s TNETV107x solution powers the new Optimized for Lync IP phones, offering enterprise IT departments maximum flexibility in upgrading existing phone systems and software. In addition to the processor, TI provided a robust software development kit (SDK), and an optimized reference design that provides out-of-the-box wideband voice and advanced network capability with Lync Server 2010-enabled endpoints. “We believe that next-generation IP phones will become a vital communications portal of the workplace as they enable users to leverage multimedia features,” said Kim Devlin-Allen, director, VoIP CPE solutions, Texas Instruments. “Texas Instruments is excited to work with Microsoft in the unified communications sector.  With TI and the TNETV107x platform, customers can experience enhanced voice quality and integrated communications features with Microsoft Lync Server 2010.”
