Site Offers State-By-State Rundown Of Cell Phone Usage Laws

January 4, 2008

Auto-enthusiast website Jalopnik, part of the Gawker Media family of sites, offers a comprehensive rundown of texting while driving and cell phone use while driving regulations in all 50 U.S. States.

The rundown is accompanied by the graph you see here from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

After overviews of  cellphone driving laws grouped by Novice Drivers, Preemption Laws, School Bus Drivers, Hands-Free sets and whether or not these statutes are Primary (you can get arrested for talking or texting while driving) or Secondary (arrest only if you have committed another traffic-related infraction)- there's a 50-state breakdown of cell driving laws.

Each state breakdown lists status of specific state motor vehicle laws relating to use of Hand-Held devices, Bus Drivers, Novice Restrictions and Endorsement.
