Dialpad spun out of Google for all practical purposes and still uses the Google cloud or GCP so its a natural application to be part of the new G Suite marketplace.
What does this new partnership mean to Dialpad customers? Simple... They can now access their communications - text and voice from within their email client. Specifically, when you are emailing on an Android device or desktop browser, you will see a drawer to the right allowing calls to be placed or texting to be initiated.
Once activated, the Dialpad Add-on enables users to message, call, view history or save a new contact from within Gmail. With the Gmail Add-on, Dialpad is able to identify and pull contact information from within the individual email message and check to see if there are any existing contacts. Should none exist, Dialpad suggests creating a new contact.
In an interview with Craig Walker, he was very upbeat about this news. He mentioned the "unfair" advantage the company has when working with Google because many of the company's engineers used to work there.
In a prepared statement he said, “With this program, companies will no longer be trapped in their antiquated PBX communications systems and can begin to provide a cloud first, mobile solution for today’s anywhere worker.”
The company has nearly 50,000 customers and a full 85 percent of them have ditched their desk phones. The company also has native integrations with Salesforce, Zendesk, and LinkedIn.
Craig hinted at more news to come in the future. He didn't specify what but we wouldn't be surprised to see a similar agreement with Microsoft. Perhaps Apple? We'll see.
