Asterisk on Windows

Some hot news I've been meaning to share - Asterisk is now available on Windows.

Check it out:
Digium, the leading Open Source telecommunications supplier, and N2Net, a provider of mission critical communication hosting, announce the immediate availability of AstWind, a package allowing users of Microsof's Windows platform to run Asterisk, the Open Source PBX in a fully packet voice installation.
"AstWind allows Windows users to safely install and test the Asterisk PBX with the click of a button." said Gregory Boehnlein, Vice President of N2Net. "The possibilities are boundless! Prospective users can test the software and become familiar with it before deploying a full Linux system. Developers can maintain multiple environments for testing and PBX Administrators can create disaster recovery plans to backup existing installations."

Except, of course, that it's technically NOT on Windows: it runs on Cooperative Linux, which is installed in parallel on a Windows host system.

I have to agree with Boris. Over on NtWizards they mentioned a piece of hardware from Sipura which is an outboard voip converter communicating over ip with the controlling system. This would make a port to, say embedded xp a LOT easier.

hello dear,
please where can I GET AstWind FOR TEST

The AstWind installer can be downloaded as a single executable file from N2Net's high performance FTP cluster located at:
ftp://ftp.nacs.net/asterisk/astwind

The installer, approximately 120MB in size, contains coLinux, WinPcap, a Debian Root Filesystem and pre-built configuration files. Installation is performed by a simple batch script and can be completed in less time than it takes to get a cup of coffee. : )
