FCC 700 MHz Auction Bidding Now Over 11.5 Billion
At the conclusion of yesterday's700 MHz wireless spectrum auction, the Federal Communications Commission reported that the 16-round bidding total had stood at $11,573,702,900.
This amount exceeds an unofficial FCC floor goal of $10 billion.
Much of yesterday's multi-round momentum was experienced in the 15th round. Some 933 new bids, constituting more than $757 million, were reported in that round alone.
That round consisted of "D" block licenses, a relatively small bandwidth auction for spectrum that will be shared with public safety agencies.
Bidding resumes today.
