FCC 700 MHz Wireless Spectrum Bids Nearing $20 Billion
Here's an update from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission on the bidding for 700 MHz wireless spectrum licenses.
After 75 rounds, bidding is approaching $20 billion. The total is $19,423,720,500. The 75th round saw 88 bids for a cumulative total of more than $4 million.
As Russ Drumheller ofFaulkner's Telecom Daily notes, The national license has received no new bids since one qualifying bid was placed the first week of bidding, but this week a bid was placed for a Pacific package of licenses covering regions 9 & 11. The bidding for the Mississippi Valley C-block license had the highest single-license total at $1,625,930.
Bidding resumes this (Friday) morning.
