Asia, You've Got a Domain
December 12, 2006
At the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) meeting in Sao Paolo last week, a top-level .asia (dot asia) Internet domain was approved.
Intended as a supplement to existing national domains such as .cn (China) and .jp (Japan), .asia will be overseen by the DotAsia Organization.
DotAsia Organization is what ICANN calles a gTLD (generic Top Level Domains) registry. DotAsia Organization will be the first such registry to be based in the Asia-Pacific region.
