Microsoft Skips A Digit Altogether For CRM 3

July 6, 2005

If you’ve not already heard, Microsoft’s[sigh] long-delayed CRM 2.0 release has been wholly skipped for a higher digit: Microsoft CRM 3.0.

This version is scheduled for release to manufacturing in the fourth quarter with general availability in the first quarter of 2006. (An alpha version of the product became available in the fourth quarter of 2004.)

Microsoft CRM 3.0 will feature new on-demand functionality, a new subscription-based licensing model, enhancements aimed at the small to medium-sized business (SMB) market and a more unified user interface (UI).

Similar to other offerings already provided by vendors in the industry, Microsoft's CRM 3.0 platform will provide marketing, sales and service capabilities. To address the key issue of user adoption, the company has unified the user experience behind its Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook UI.
