Wal-Mart Web Site Down

Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s walmart.com Web site was down this morning, and a customer service representative told Reuters that the site had been inoperative since last night (Wednesday).

A walmart.com spokesperson did not immediately return a Reuters call seeking comment. As well, a spokeswoman at Wal-Mart’s Bentonville, Arkansas, headquarters could not immediately be reached.

�

Personally, I don't find it too far-fetched to assume that�the site being down was due to the amount of traffic caused by all of you last-minute preorderers of the latest�Harry Potter book entry, which goes on sale this Saturday.

�

For the 12th-largest Internet retailer — which walmart.com is, according to statistics compiled by trade magazine Internet Retailer — this is a big problem. Admittedly, though, it’s not as bad as Hallmark’s Web site being down during Valentines Day.

�

The retail store's Web site appears to be up and running fine now.

�

    As a Wal-mart associate I depend on the website to give me information. Today i need copies of my check stubs and I'm unable, and therefore, it puts me behind, because Wal-mart no longer makes copies or gives any employeee information out anymore. This is why we should not depend on the internet.

    I've been trying to buy a gift on a baby's registry..what gives...Has it been down since the 9th?
