QAS further validates names/addresses
In an announcement dated today,address-data-quality software provider QASreleased QuickAddress Names, a product that augments the company's suite of other address management products by validating consumer names with addresses at the point of entry.

Thisvalidation ability, if done at the beginning of the data lifecycle/customer relationship, can reduce delivery service surcharges on incorrectly addressed packages; diminish the rate of returned packages; ensure thatsensitive documents (e.g., invoices) arrive at the proper address, to the proper customer, on time; increase returns on marketing campaigns (by ensuring mailings actually reach recipients); and improve productivity in the call center, asrepresentatives would no longer have to ask callers to spell out names or addresses.

QuickAddress Names uses Experian data compiled fromthousands of sources, including the U.S. Postal Service, telephone directory records, real-estate transactions, surveys and other public and proprietary sources.(QAS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Experian.)

To use QuickAddress Names, users type in a few address elements -- such as a ZIP code, the first few letters of a street address and a street number -- at which timeQuickAddress Names provides drop-down lists of potential address and name combinations. Rather than typing in the full customer record, userscan simply highlight and select the validated, correctly formatted record. The drop-down lists not only save time and keystrokes; theyfurtherenable users to avoid typos and other inaccuracies.

According to the company announcement, "The product is easy to use because it works at the relatively superficial keyboard-buffer level, which allows it to be integrated into any underlying database without re-coding ... the product iseasy to install and administer."

Users cantailortheir interface to load validated data into Microsoft Word or basically any other open window on the user's computer.

Among QAS’ other productsis its QuickAddress Web 5.0, which enables customers to validate their own addresses while ordering from a company Web site — whether ordering a magazine subscription, your kids' school books, your very own catapult or even a Badonkadonk, among the nearly unlimited products/services available for purchase online.

There is also QuickAddress Batch, which is used as part of QAS’ overall address data quality solution to clean existing address records in a database and maintain the validity of those records over time. It verifies, corrects and standardizes address records with enhanced delivery point validation (DPV) from the United States Postal Service (USPS).
