Software Media Servers Help CPaaS Offerings Such as GENBAND Kandy

genband kandy jim machi blog 041817.pngCloud communications are giving customers deployment options they never had before. Big data centers running ‘you name it’ communications functions and software are giving customers pay–as-you-go and subscription purchase options for their communications needs, thus reducing upfront CAPEX expenses.

Within that paradigm, platform as a service offerings such as Genband Kandy give these customers the ability to create their own applications. Building voice and video communications applications requires a media server to do functions such as conferencing and transcoding for multi-media collaboration sessions. Conferencing mixes the various speakers, captures noise, and mutes those not speaking while rendering video. Transcoding is required because everyone on the conference may not be using the same type of endpoint or coming from the same network.  A myriad of other functions that may manipulate the audio/video stream to enable the service to occur are also performed by a media server.

Dialogic has had a software based media server for over 15 years, with many customers using our media server in some type of cloud environment.  We’ve tackled the issues of real-time communications in the cloud.  We’re proud Genband has chosen Dialogic PowerMedia XMS to help Kandy meet the needs of its customer base and we look forward to continuing to meet the ever-growing media server needs of Kandy.
