Obama Administration's Close Ties to Comedy Central no Surprise

Should it be a surprise that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner had a closed doors meeting with Jon Stewart? This was not a televised meeting but shows how the merger of entertainment and politics has produced a situation where some of the most powerful people in the world are spending more time courting the Comedy Central audience than they are traditional news sources like CNN.

In the last few years we have seen a massive move in influence on the left from CNN and MSNBC to Comedy Central and now one wonders just how influential is Jon Stewart and are our leaders just trying to kiss his rear so they aren't skewered on live TV or are they asking Jon for his opinion on the issues?

In a way the growth in Comedy Central influence with this administration shouldn't be such a surprise as the administration's efforts to create jobs and engineer a recovery best left to the private sector has been a joke.
