It's All Happening at ITEXPO

September 18, 2008 6:26 PM | 0 Comments

A panel of business VoIP resellers attending ITEXPO provided a great seminar today on ways they can give system users greater control over Internet telephony call quality.

One big player at the convention is 8x8. The Santa Clara-based company earlier made a big splash with the announcement it is now providing, through its Packet8 VoIP services, the SIP trunking for Microsoft Response Point.

Super Technologies Rocks ITEXPO

I was chatting with CEO of Super Technologies and DID guru Suzanne Bowen (who I hear throws one heck of an ITEXPO show party) and she was commenting on all the great traffic she was getting at her booth this week. In case you've been intentionally avoiding the DID and DDI space: DIDX, a registered and patented service of Super Technologies, Inc, provides an exchange of Direct Inward Dialing (DID) and DDI numbers.

Suzanne has a channel on TMCnet.com dedicated to the entire market. Check it out here.

I had the opportunity to spend some time this week at ITEXPO with the folks at i2Telecom, the well known developer of patented and innovative Voice-over-Internet Protocol products and services. And I say innovative without hesitation after the team took home TMC's Most Innovative at the in Las Angeles.

It seems the company is garnering a lot of attention of late. Earlier this month CEO Paul Arena was featured this week on CNBC's popular pre-market show, "The Call." Paul was there to talk about the company's "MyGlobalTalk."

MyGlobalTalk technology makes digital-quality cellular VoIP applications available to Blackberry and Windows mobile users.

Stay tuned. Paul told me there are some interesting things coming soon.

ITEXPO BUZZ...

When Dialogic Corporation announced its plans for a $28 million deal to acquire its long-time rival, NMS Communications Corporation, tongues were certainly agog.

And the buzz has certainly been present at TMC's ITEXPO West 2008 in Los Angeles where both outfits have a strong presence this week.

For the full story check out this inside scoop from TMC's Richard "Zippy" Grigonis.

VoIP solutions provider Quintum is making a move that should increase its footprint and boosts its profile. The company has teamed with software giant Microsoft to develop a VoIP T1/E1/PRI gateway and an FXS gateway that use the Redmond's Response Point digital phone system software.

Beginning in mid-October the companies will offer the product designed to provide small and medium businesses looking to deploy VoIP throughout their network with IP PBX telephony advantages usually enjoyed only by larger enterprises.

VoIP is the Future

September 18, 2008 10:59 AM | 0 Comments

You hear that a lot this week at TMC's the INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO West 2008 in Los Angeles. The maturing VoIP market certainly has made believers in nearly every corner of the LA Convention Center.

One company certainly on board is Octasic. The firm has announced a new mass customization program designed to help carrier infrastructure and enterprise equipment manufacturers design and products to be competitive in the VoIP market.

Check out this TMC article for more information.

We expected a lot of news to come from this week's Internet Telephony Conference & Expo West 2008 and on its first day we certainly have not been disappointed. Another interesting piece geared toward industry insiders is from VoIP Logic.

The gloablm provider of Voice over Internet Protocol ("VoIP") Managed Services announced a new solution - CDR Manager - a Call Detail Record Management module for its Cortex OSS middleware.

Top Line Education on SIP Trunking

September 16, 2008 1:45 PM | 0 Comments

Talk about a top of the line education! Ingate's teaming with Avaya, TMC, as well as a host of leading IP-PBX vendors and SIP trunking service providers for a SIP Trunking Seminar is as good as it gets.

The "SIP Trunking: Everything You Need to Know" Seminar at ITEXPO INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & Expo West 2008 is primed to be one of the highlights of the entire event. To learn more check out this TMCnet article here.

Before Avaya kicks the wham off this DevCom jam, there are several interesting Communications Developer sessions to check out. I wish I could attend each, but alas, too many to see not enough time! Anyway, if you have time and are interested in this space (of course you are, why else would you be reading this UC blog) here are four that may whet your appetite for the week to come:

The State of SIP Application Development
Trends in Mobile VoIP
How to better achieve better than PSTN voice Quality
in services for the enterprise and SMB markets
Fundamentals of IMS Development

TMC's Fifth Annual Communications Developer Conference kicks off today here in LA and the crowds are already starting to queue up in front of the registration desk at the city's convention center. Last night at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in scenic downtown LA, Avaya got things started with a Unified Communications workshop focusing on its online development community dubbed DevConnect. It was a great way to get things started. The New Jersey-based company also hosted a beer and wine bash after the event with many members of its development team speaking about DevConnect with great alacrity. Team members were keen on getting DevConnect in front of the audience. Stay tuned for more from Avaya... and many others!

For those not already in the know... the Avaya DevConnect program provides a wide range of free developer resources including Avaya APIs and SDKs, developer tools and more. The company is giving the keynote here at 11am. Pretty cool stuff!
