Corning Ready to Supply FTTx Efforts

According to a news release today, Corning Inc. believes that a full recovery in the telecommunications industry will depend on "strong customer demand for new service capabilities that systems such as fiber-to-the-premises enable." You can read the full release at:

Access is key, according to the company, and (naturally, since that's their business, but it's probably true anyway) they believe optical is the right medium to provide access to triple-play services. According to Corning CEO Larry Aiello, "Optical communications' inherent and demonstrable bandwidth far outstrips copper-based or wireless media. This means faster access speeds for customers and 'future proofed' networks for carriers."
