Trending, Trendy and Works

Too often we use the phrases “everyone” and “everywhere” when we mean something entirely different. We usually use such terms to denote a rapidly growing trend. For example, everyone does not have a smartphone, tablet or Facebook account. Consequently, there is still room to sell other competitive items or gain additional converts to social media.

I have twin godchildren that are approaching 20 years of age this month. Although, twins, they couldn’t be more different when it comes to their use of technology. One owns an iTouch, iPhone and motorcycle. The other has a Samsung non-smartphone, no iproducts and no means of transport. Both are, in my words addicted to Facebook, neither pays any attention to the advertisements. Both are best contacted via text rather than email or a phone call. And both will enter the work environment with the Internet and social media as the cornerstones of their existence. So why the differences in how they embrace technology?

One is a marine and has disposable income. The other is assisting in putting herself through college and funding her education is the top priority. This is perhaps the best indication that product diversity will remain because economic means will always define what one can afford or purchase.

Similarly, small business owners examine their cash flows and business status in determining what solutions or products they will add to their infrastructures. It is not always the best-of-breed product. Sometimes, it is the product that best fits the economic environment or resources of the company. The good news is that IP communications and wireless technologies offer an array of good alternatives.

Broadvox has so many great OEM and technology partners that finding a solution that satisfies a company’s functional and cost requirements is always possible. It may not be the trending solution that “everyone” has and is seen “everywhere” but it will contribute to the success of the business. It will save money, increase productivity and, often, assist in accelerating sales and increasing revenues. And that is the primary objective.

See you on Monday!
