Cook, Plumb, Prepare Veal Marsala and Tax Advice

It is hard to describe the life of a true foodie. Food consumes us.

Hummmm...okay we consume it. But, we continually pursue a new experience with it.

Over the weekend, I made corned beef, tomato basil soup, cream of tomato basil soup with truffle oil, Boniet, and Veal Marsala with Fettuccini. All of it was very good. Resulting in the question of what should be shared with readers today?

I made the corned beef and soup in honor of Saint Patty's Day and the chill in Dallas. Why two soups? Why not? Slow cooking a brisket and making a soup allowed me time to replace my primary garbage disposal. I have a sink in the kitchen island where I do most of my prep work and the disposal went out a couple weeks ago. Prepping food since then has been very awkward. I bought a new unit and replaced it on Saturday while the brisket and soup cooked. No leaks so I guess and I can plumb.

The Boniet was really good. I hope the person that gave it to me forgives me for substituting white wine vinegar for red wine vinegar. It was a small matter of preferred taste. It was very good!

The second recipe of the day is the Veal Marsala. Thinly pounded veal, breaded and finished with a rich Marsala sauce is always good. A nice Pinot Noir goes well with it. Enjoy!

Tax Credits and Deductions

While attending Channel Partners I learned that purchasing a new IP PBX might qualify the buyer for a 50% tax credit up to $5000. An IP PBX can support deaf enabled features. It is not necessary to use them to qualify for the tax credit. Please have your customers and prospects discuss their qualifications with their tax accountant. To assist businesses with complying with the ADA, Section 44 of the IRS Code allows a tax credit for small businesses and Section 190 of the IRS Code allows a tax deduction for all businesses.

The tax credit is available to businesses that have total revenues of $1,000,000 or less in the previous tax year or 30 or fewer full-time employees. This credit can cover 50% of the eligible access expenditures in a year up to $10,250 (maximum credit of $5000). The tax credit can be used to offset the cost of undertaking barrier removal and alterations to improve accessibility; providing accessible formats such as Braille, large print and audio tape; making available a sign language interpreter or a reader for customers or employees, and for purchasing certain adaptive equipment (IP PBX).

The tax deduction is available to all businesses with a maximum deduction of $15,000 per year.

To learn more about the tax credit and tax deduction provisions, contact the DOJ ADA Information Line or a knowledgeable accountant.
