We're excited to finally be able to announce that E911 Manager is the first E911 solution to offer full location tracking and real-time location updates for SIP phones on the Aura Session Manager platform.

We've been working with Avaya for several months to help them "increase the granularity of SIP handset location information for emergency dialing." Those are the words of Steve Durney, solution director for Avaya Aura Session Manager, who first approached RedSky about collaborating on this important feature for ASM 6.1.

It stands to reason that mobile workers, using phones that can easily move from location to location, need real-time location information in order to be fully protected in the event of a 9-1-1 emergency. Other E911 solution providers can only update information every 4 minutes or so.

If you're faced with a life-threatening emergency, do you want your phone sending old information to emergency responders?

RedSky is exhibiting this week at the National Guard Bureau's Joint C4I Conference and E911 is being discussed as an important component of force protection.

In the aftermath of the tragic shooting at Fort Hood, Secretary Gates issued final recommendations that, among other things, directs the Services to implement E911 in all facilities.

In response to these final recommendations, RedSky has just released an updated white paper, "Using E911 to Meet Military Base Security Needs," that provides an overview of the Secretary's E911 directive, introduces the reader to the fundamentals of E911, and details how automated E911 software solutions meet Full Operational Capability (FOC) requirements and improve base security.

At the J4CI Conference, National Guard IT, communications and intelligence professionals are talking with the RedSky team about E911 Manager™, the company's scalable, JITC-certified, E911 software application that integrates with all major voice platforms, on-base PSAP equipment and external PS-ALI databases.

RedSky's updated white paper on E911 for military bases is available for download on the company's website.

Prior to 2006, all 9-1-1 calls made by the School District of Palm Beach County (SDPBC) came from red analog Emergency Phones that were placed in the Front Office of each school location. In May 2000, the district experienced a shooting at one of our schools that killed a popular teacher. When the school called 9-1-1 the call was made from the Red Phone (Emergency Phone) in the Main Office. The shooting occurred in a classroom.

Thanks for wandering by.

We're taking our first steps toward creating the leading online community for the E911 industry and we fully intend for E911 Watch to become a must-check source for information on legislation, technology, implementation issues, liability risk -- anything related to E911.

We can't do this alone, we need you the E911 Community to join the discussion and keep it relevant.

So, watch this space. This is just a start. Let us know how we're doing and let's work together to raise the bar on the E911 issue. Because, after all, everyone deserves E911 protection -- whether we're at home, at work or somewhere in between.
