Correct Posture Easily with iPosture

I'm no beauty queen, well posture wise anyway!wink Flipping through a woman's worst self-esteem buster, a fitness magazine, I found a neat little gadget to help ones posture. The iPosture was created by Dr. Moacir Schnapp, a neurologist and Dr. Elma Schapp, a rehabilitation expert.

The technology behind the iPosture WINS because of its Wearable Intelligent Nano-Sensor, a microchip that monitors ones stance several times every second. Attach the iPosture to wear it by attaching it to a shirt or bra, as a necklace, or attached to the skin with special adhesive patches.

Set the device by holding a good, comfortable posture that you wish to maintain and press the front of the disk so that it records your natural position. When the user deviates greater than just three degrees from the chosen posture that lasts longer than one minute, the device vibrates. Specialized software filters spurious movements, which allows the iPosture to adapt to a variety of activities and body types.

Tired of being proper? You can pause the iPosture by pressing and holding the button for three seconds, or lay it down on the table to turn it off. It can also be reset at any time to allow the user to fine tune their best personal stance, either moving from a sitting to a standing position.

According to the Web site, here are the importance of good posture on health and the science behind it:

  • People with good posture are generally happier and more confident
  • Women with good posture are less prone to osteoporosis fractures
  • Men with good posture are twice as likely to keep their balance and function as they age
  • Posture correction and exercises can be more effective than other medical modalities for the prevention and treatment of back pain

The iPosture is usually $89.95 however until December 31, 2008 the nice doctors are running a holiday special for $49.95.

Side note: Although I think this gadget is wonderful, I'm wondering what the "i" is doing in front of Posture, is Apple involved? Did Mr. Jobs need some posture correcting? What's the deal?
