Collaboration Leads to Innovation in the M2M Space

Cargo theft in the shipping industry accounts for a loss of $30 billion dollar annually. For most shipping companies this is a serious concern. Theft concerns are no exception for Minn. based transportation broker C.H. Robinson, which boast shipping contracts with over 47,000 companies. The company does not own trucks but is still responsible for matching goods with the shippers and culpable for the safe passage thereof. C.H. has a large enough stake in the industry that cargo management and theft prevention was a top priority for them. The solution was produced through a collaborative effort of end-user, OEM and asset recovery provider.

Tracking systems that utilize GPS gating have existed for some time, but are easily detected by thieves and do not convey information past global position.
