- 2 slices bread
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 slice cheese (American, Swiss, or gruyere)
- 1 egg, beaten
- Pinch salt
- Pinch pepper
- 2 teaspoons mayonnaise
- 2 thin slices tomato
- 2 thin slices ham
Directions
Heat a sauté pan to medium heat. Melt the butter and place the bread in the pan. Place the cheese on one slice of the bread to melt. Cook until browned on one side. Remove from the pan and place on serving plate. Pour the beaten egg in the pan with the salt and pepper, spreading it across the bottom until very thin. Cook on medium low heat. If thin enough, the egg will not need to be turned. Remove from the pan and cut in half. Fold each half to fit the slices of bread.
Assemble the sandwich by first spreading mayonnaise on the dry slice of bread (the non-toasted side). Then place a slice of the tomato, then ham, then egg. Repeat. Finally, place the slice of bread with cheese on the top.
Cut in half and eat!
