Ingredients
- 4 ahi steaks, about 6 ounces each
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 package Taco Seasoning
OR Homemade Taco Seasoning Mixture
· 1 tablespoon chili powder, (Gebhardt is preferred)
· ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
· ½ teaspoon onion powder
· ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
· ¼ teaspoon oregano
· ½ teaspoon paprika
· ½ teaspoon ground cumin
· ½ teaspoon kosher salt
· 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Done.
Directions
Sprinkle the taco seasoning mixture on both sides of the tune. Let sit for 30 minutes to an hour. This is crucial as the dried ingredients in the taco mixture are rehydrating and seasoning the tuna.
Heat a skillet to medium high and add the olive oil. Add the tuna steaks and sear for 2 minutes on each side (a rare steak). Sear for 3-4 minutes for medium. (If you need well done, this may not be the dish for you.)
Remove and serve with Mexican or Spanish rice.
Serves 4.
