Since July, developers who have been using Alcatel-Lucent's Open API Service technology to enhance their work recently released a slew of exciting, sophisticated, next-generation applications.
Topping the list of applications - which, by the way, you can now check out in Alcatel-Lucent's Application Gallery -- is AccuWeather.com Premium v4.0, a complete location-based weather center for the mobile phone that brings the user instant severe weather alerts, access detailed forecasts, weather events and location-based weather services. Using the Alcatel-Lucent Open Application Service to pinpoint your location, Premium v4.0 helps you weatherproof your day by staying up to date on weather conditions wherever you are.
Another featured application, from 3Cinteractive, integrates the Alcatel-Lucent Open API Service (ALU OAS) with its SwitchBlade platform to leverage real-time mobile subscriber location information.
We hear that the combination of the ALU OAS and the 3Cinteractive platforms will empower location-driven responses within sophisticated interactive messaging campaigns. Mobile subscribers will now be able to request intelligent location-specific content such as closest store location, weather and traffic conditions.
Plus, brands can leverage 3Cinteractive's new capabilities to drive location awareness and foot traffic and gather more intelligent information about subscriber preferences.
