Shifting Strategies to Fulfill Wireless Experiences, Demand

These days, there's not much you can't do without a wireless connection. In an age where content is king, consumers and businesses are in the driver's seat paving the road for network operators to evolve to their needs.

As the demand for new and larger Web applications increases alongside the need for more bandwidth to support those needs, network providers have to face the inevitable: that change is on the horizon. To capture consumer attention and drive new revenue streams, network providers need to change their marketing strategies.

And part of that strategy is to give users the content they want, and when and how they want it. Alcatel-Lucent has one solution with its Application enablement service. Application enablement blends the capabilities of the network and Web to help users transform to a more stable model to spur new revenue sources. It gives users an enhanced experience that they can access anytime, and on any device.

For example, people can stay in touch with one another at work or play with mobile devices, other than using a cell phone or e-mail.

An Alcatel-Lucent video, called "Redefine the Wireless Experience with LTE," shows how one sister breaks the news she is expecting twins via her wireless device with a live feed of her ultrasound. Talk about innovative. The video also highlights how wireless technology keeps people current and in the know. So if you're stuck on a train, you don't necessarily have to miss your child's soccer game or that live concert you wanted to attend.

So, what's the takeaway? To keep consumers (and businesses) happy and revenue healthy, network and application and content providers must broaden the value they provide to each other, according to an Alcatel-Lucent white paper.

With Alcatel-Lucent Application Enablement approach, network providers can offer a rich user experience that will help build relationships with content and application providers and also boost additional revenue, the company said.

And with an improved users experience, there's on sure bet. The new value offered will be one that end users, advertisers and sponsors "are willing to pay for," Alcatel-Lucent said.
