Sure the MacBook Air is missing a few features. No surprise as it is so thin. A slow hard disk and missing FireWire port shouldn't be a deal breaker for the people that want the bragging rights associated with the world's thinnest laptop. The way I see it, this is the iPhone of laptops -- missing some features but also packing some new ones not seen elsewhere.I would imagine many people who like the iPhone will also like the gesture-based interface this laptop takes advantage of -- as it is so similar to how you use the iPhone.
I would guess only a few will be put off by the lack of features. I predict this laptop will be a hit.

Rich, you missed the missing feature that would bother me the most... an ethernet jack. I can't count on WiFi everywhere I go.
Very good point. Ironically more and more hotels seem to have WiFi only which means the current Ethernet jack in my laptop doesn't get used too often.
I suppose one solution to this problem is to carry a personal access point with you. Another option is the personal bluetooth to Ethernet adapter from Belkin.
Yes, portable WiFi AP is one way to go. I can see Apple releasing an "AirPort Nano" for exactly that purpose.
I miss VGA/DVI for projection.
Hi Shai you can get a usb ethernet adaptor to fit the macbookair, checkout www.macbookair4u.com cord section.
Shriasys, i think you can also get a mini-dvi to dvi or mini-dvi to vga adaptor for the macbookair as well for your projection options
