SanDisk takes on the iPod

I am impressed that SanDisk has come out with music player after music player. Each seems to be a better value than the last. The question is whether the American market and others will care much about the value difference between an Apple and SanDisk music/MP3 player. I would imagine in some markets where it isn't so important to be trendy the SanDisk models will do well. In trendier markets Apple still has such a strong lock it will be tough to make headway. But I give the company an A for effort. If Apple slips up and perhaps has a battery recall or something similar -- perhaps SanDisk and Microsoft (see Microsoft/Toshiba Zune and Microsoft Should Buy SpiralFrog) will get the openings they are looking for.
