I am impressed that SanDisk has come out with music player after music player. Each seems to be a better value than the last. The question is whether the American market and others will care much about the value difference between an Apple and SanDisk music/MP3 player. I would imagine in some markets where it isn't so important to be trendy the SanDisk models will do well. In trendier markets Apple still has such a strong lock it will be tough to make headway. But I give the company an A for effort. If Apple slips up and perhaps has a battery recall or something similar -- perhaps SanDisk and Microsoft (see Microsoft/Toshiba Zune and Microsoft Should Buy SpiralFrog) will get the openings they are looking for.

There is so much competition in the market to take out the iPod and it seems obvious that the synergy of iTunes and iPod is a tough to beat with a player or service alone. So while companies like SanDisk... Read More
