If you are annoyed that your trademarks are being used on Google’s search engine to allow your competitor to profit, join the club as American Airlines is the latest company to sue Google for using its trademark inappropriately. Other companies to sue Google for the same reason are Geico and American Blind & Wallpaper Factory Inc. In every case, Google has won using the argument that placing an ad on a keyword search is analogous to running an ad from Toyota in a car magazine reviewing a Ford car.

 

If Google was to lose such a case it would obviously be disastrous for the world’s leading search engine as this is the primary way the company generates revenue.
