Alex Tew the founder of Milliondollarhomepage.com is getting job offers because many companies are impressed with his novel idea to make money online via the selling of pixel ads. The news of his job offers has spiked even more interest in his site.
Amazingly, even though web traffic was on a downward slope, it has recently turned around and today was ranked by Alexa as one of the top 440 site on the entire Internet. Alexa rank is a combination of unique visitors and page views and the lower the number, the better.

December 30, 2005 at 3:12 pmI think the milliondollarhomepage.com concept will be hard to duplicate. But someone that creative is probably worth hiring for their next great idea.

December 30, 2005 at 3:23 pmYou are absolutely right. This is a very resourceful kid and who knows what other ideas he can come up with if he puts his mind to it.
One wonders if there is a new ad format possible that is a blend of Google Adwords somehow morphed with a pixel ad. The concept if pulled off can be a huge money maker. Just the name power of having Tew as part of your company and this initiative could help with the success of new concepts like this. Perhaps I should be more bullish on the whole pixel ad concept. I can see now that if morphed the idea could be much more powerful than a static page.

January 3, 2006 at 1:10 amThe thousands of copy-cats that appeared after milliondollarhomepage
made it big won’t get too far since the idea of selling pixels is no
longer novel! But now this site has popped up:
Claiming to “change the way advertising works”, OnlyOneAd.com is
doing something truly unique. It’s selling only one ad. That’s
right, there is only space for ONE ad on the page. The first
ad costs $1. To replace the ad, the next advertiser must pay $2.
After that, it costs $4, and so on. Each new ad costs twice
the amount of the previous ad. That means the 21st ad costs over
one million dollars. The creator seems convinced he can reach his
goal, which actually seems possible if he can generate enough
buzz. He’s keeping a detailed blog, and so far only the 1st
ad has sold for $1! How is this going to turn out?

January 5, 2006 at 11:41 amSometimes it is hard to predict which ideas will fly on the net. Anyhow this idea did fly and he made his 1M plus. With the auction going the way it is on ebay, I think he is going to sell each pixel for $1000 for his last 1000 pixels.
To his credit, many have transformed this idea into some sort of advertising medium. Such as buckapixel and PayPerDot.com. I am not sure how long this buzz will last or even to see if this idea will work out for the advertisers. Just like the payperdot.com idea, they want to change this pixel into a network of sites.
We just have to wait and see. Too early to predict.
Cheers,
Guna.

January 9, 2006 at 1:39 amI for one love the idea. As a young entrepeneur, I sit on my computer most of the day and night for that matter trying to make even a few dollars through affiliate programs. The whole pixel scheme is over with after this auction is done (currently above $160,000 us). All the imitators that followed just goes to show the lack of originality and need for broader minds. MDH also narrows down most any attempt for an individual to publicise his venture for online wealth. Hard to not look like a copy cat if someone did! Good look everyone, heres to the future.

January 13, 2006 at 3:04 amThere is actually a lot of websites out there like milliondollarhomepage – and lots of them have a twist a two to it – like http://www.wazowski.com
There was also a guy with a milliondollarhomepage theme, but NOT selling any pixels (?!).

January 14, 2006 at 5:01 pmI have a milliondollarhomepage theme called http://www.millionpoundgallery.com and I have sold over 100,000 pixels!
My site is selling to the UK market and is doing really rather well 😉
I Think the thing that people are getting wrong is cheapening their sites out of desparation to make them work. My site has been around for a while, not just since the success of Alex Tew.
I cant believe that the majority of pixel site owners are actually putting banner ads on their site. What does that tell the people who are paying for pixels? Bad practise I reckon. I try to keep mine quality. I have turned down purchasers and offers for banner ads!!!
Anyway if you want to see a quality site that is selling plenty of pixels a day then check it out http://www.millionpoundgallery.com

February 2, 2006 at 3:32 pmAlex Tew sold his million, and a few other clones, who started off early, took a bite in pixels, but the rest are just biting the dust, but again some are picking up against all odds! [Me !!!]
if u see my site, http://www.pixeladmall.com/ im selling pixels, as well as banners, and if u see my site was recently featured in “The Economic Times”, India, the largest business newspaper daily in India!!!
so there, i am gaining ground, and market, and i started very late compared to other “copy cats”.
today there is more sceptism about pixels, than the pixels themselves, but like any other boom, the strongest will survive, and make the day.
Great ideas
February 3, 2006 at 1:59 pmI think that Alex Tew had the right idea in the right moment and he must be recognized for that.
I just saw another great idea on eBay. Its the http://www.AmericanForever.com project. There are 100 ‘places’ for sale at a price of USD $1.000 each. If someone buy one of these places can put is photo, name, a message for the future and a link.
Not bad.

February 20, 2006 at 1:49 pmI have also created a pixel advertising site but i thought rather than creating the site to make money for myself i though i would create it to raise money for charity. The 500k homepage is selling 1 million pixels at 50 cents each and 75% of all money raised is going to the charity and the remaining 25% is going back into the site to keep it up and running for life.

March 6, 2006 at 10:25 amI’m totaly new to this pixel thing, but I’ve just purchased some pixels from http://www.onemillionpound.net. I chose them cos they are a little bit different from the others. It’s a nice looking site and they also have space for rent rather than just to buy, at a very cheap price. They seem to have generated some interest and are fairly popular. I also rate them because the pixels sold look from like they’re from real buyers rather than the owners putting lots of Blue Chip companies onto their sites to help make them look popular. They don’t have a Google PR yet but I’m not sure how long they’ve been established. You never know they could be the next big thing in pixel advertising!

March 6, 2006 at 10:42 amYou may well have made a blunder…..have a good look round before you buy.
http://www.millionpoundgallery.com which is the original UK only Pixel page is still way out in front of all other competitors.
I believe they are even putting their prices up soon as the value of their space has increased due to the uptake they have had.
I have had an ad on there for 3 weeks and am well impressed with the results.
I recommend you and all others take a look.

March 8, 2006 at 1:47 am1 Million Dollars from just under 3,000 advertisers! That’s what The Million Dollar Homepage achieved. Why not $100 million? The numbers here are very simple. If Alex Tew made $1 Million Dollars from just under 3,000 advertisers – HE MISSED A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY. He had 2 million visitors a week.

June 16, 2006 at 12:59 pmI believe that Alex’s site still generates some indirect value for advertisers at least by improving their visibility in search engines. It has a PageRank of 7 and many still continue to add links to it (by the way, this article has just added one link). So, getting the link from website with such a high PageRank for as low as 1$ it is clearly a reasonable investment.
Good luck to all the copycats 🙂

July 27, 2006 at 12:41 pmAdcubes-Will it sell forever??
People, in many cases, make buying decision based on other people’s already made decision.
The value of the product is largely decided by whether other people value it or not.
That’s why auction is an effective way of selling product. People bid more not just because it is useful
to them but they see other people valuing that product. For example, if someone has bought a car
for $2000. It means that someone who bought the car has already gone through the buying process and thought about
many aspects to decide whether it is good to purchase it or not. It is always easier to make a decision
based on other people’s previous decision. And people will experience less cognitive dissonance when they purchase
the adcubes even if something goes wrong since they have only paid a $1 more than the previous person. They don’t
look stupid or done something crazy because someone already has made the same decision. And you have only added
a dollar more than the previous person. If someone has bought the adcubes there must be some logic or right reason why
they bought it.And this goes over and over forever. At any moment, all you have to pay a dollar more than the person who
bought right before you.
Why won’t someone pay only a dollar more than previous person?? It’s only a dollar more. And someone has already
made a decision before you. All you have to do is pay a dollar more than the previous person!! And if you want to buy
the adcubes why not buy it before it gets too expensive??
visit http://www.ibtimes.com/adcubes and tell me what you think about it??

September 6, 2006 at 11:58 amthis is Marco Martinoli, manager of the Italian web site http://www.homepageda10milionidieuro.it.
First of all I have increased the grid up to 10.000.000 pixels then I have changed the “Advertisers” section: I won’t publish the purchased pixels but I will introduce the category/sector the advertisers belong to.
“Italian press” thought that the idea of increasing the number of pixels was interesting so they published it and presented this project as the Italian challenge Vs. alex tew, milliondollahomepage.
What do you think?
Thanks, bye.

February 6, 2007 at 6:41 pmHello, I recently saw another good “million dollar concept” on the internet. It is “the top of the internet” and you can place ads on this top of the internet. Free ads will be placed on the bottom and the more you pay for your ad the higher you’ll get listed on “the top of the internet”. Pretty cool huh? Check it out at: http://thetopoftheinternet.com
