Google need to release a version of Google talk which supports win98. Because the low configuration system will not have winXP/win2K. because it needs minimum 64MB of RAM. so those system will be using Win98. So Please Provide google talk which supports win98.

As for the notion that Google 'should' provide a version of talk for Windows 98 - If you want the latest technologies you have to move with the times. Sticking with outmoded hardware or software is your own decision and noone elses. It's that simple.

I think this is a great time for me to chime in. Many users would rather have a software vendor support the latest hardware than the oldest. For example, how many people would want to use Google Talk on handheld WiFi devices such as PDAs?

The flip side to this is that people who have the highest phone bills typically live in areas where salaries are very low and as such they can't afford the latest technology. There is no easy answer to this dilemma but it is worth pointing out that other VoIP software does support Windows 98 so you aren't stuck with Google Talk if your computer doesn't support it.

I run dual OS, XP SP2 and Win98, the problem is XP can't hold an internet connection for I to use google talk, I luv Win98 SE and would luv to see google talk for that OS, There're many people out there who luv and prefer Win98 SE above the other OS, come on, make OUR day!!!

I'm on Windows 98 (1st ed.) using Psi as Alan Berman suggested above (he gave liks to different options), and it's great! There really is no need for Google to create a fix for every app for every service they have for every operating system we might be using, when there's an online community that can provide apps that do that so well, for free. If they have to do everything for us they'll just have to become some sort of microsoftian enterprise, and that would be a shame.

Google Earth support for Windows 98 would be nice, though, heh.
