Steve Ballmer is a master negotiator. C'mon - we know he wants Yahoo. We know Microsoft needs Yahoo! but still, he plays coy and says he is not interested. Very smart. It looks like these comments were responsible for Yahoo losing 9.74% in the premarket and a full 14% as the market opened.
To be fair, Yahoo shares were immune from the last two-day sell-off because of the rumors of a Microsoft Acquisition. My take is that Yahoo needs new management ASAP who can shake up the company and figure out how to make it grow,. In absence of this, they need to sell to someone - anyone who can likely do a better job than the company has done in the past years.
