Here is a blog entry from Tom Keating on the FON router community and an SMC Skype phone that takes advantage of this new network of WiFi routers. Apparently – according to Tom — you can even win a FON router and one of these nifty phones if you fill out a brief survey.
It is amazing to see the concept of peer to peer being extended from software into the real world. The FON network sound like something really interesting but I wonder if there will be security issues as this network becomes more popular.
Unfortunately there are always bad people looking top exploit good ideas such as this.
