Dial-Up Declines

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, dial-up is on the way out. No surprise. Here are some interesting numbers:

Although all narrowband sales accounted for 63 percent of EarthLink’s revenue for 2004, U.S. households with broadband access are expected to surpass households with narrowband by the end of 2005. In 2004, EarthLink experienced 5.3 percent in customer churn for all its narrowband and only 2.5 percent for broadband. During the past three years, narrowband subscribers have decreased by 70,000 a year, on average. Broadband, meanwhile, has increased nearly 200,000 a year.
