In order to pick the top 7 new York city and Manhattan managed service providers (MSPs) we researched extensively the market for MSPs that had a breadth of experience as well as the ability to help customers in a variety of markets. We wanted this to be a top ten list but only seven made it through our tough standards and rigorous requirements.

While some MSPs focus on healthcare and others on financial, we have found those that have a wider focus area and broader customer base, have more exposure to best practices in each. While the knowledge needed to be HIPAA compliant in the medical space may be different than FINRA compliance in the financial area – in many ways there is overlap – such as consumer privacy, record keeping rules, etc.

When choosing the best provider for your organization, be aware of the potential pitfalls of private equity backed firms as there is evidence that in many cases – such acquisitions degrade customer service. Richard Platt, “The Last Innovation Master of Intel Corporation” explains, “Private equity (PE) firms prioritize profits over people, buying and flipping businesses across industries, which leads to degraded services, inflated costs, and widespread corporate control that undermines competition and societal well-being. Cost-saving measures by corporations that are run by the PE playbook often result in reduced staffing and hours, negatively affecting service quality.  Longtime employees leave due to frustration, leading to a less experienced workforce that struggles to meet customer needs. The switch to cheaper, lower-quality products diminishes the overall customer experience, causing dissatisfaction.  The downsides of essential services being owned by profit-driven corporations raise concerns about reduced quality and care of the customer.”

We did not point out PE-backed companies in our list because we feel the reviews are the ultimate signal to potential customers about company quality and service levels. When choosing a firm, be sure to ask if PE is involved.

We also focused on companies with at least 10, five-star ratings on Google. We believe Google is the most reliable ranking system and cannot be easily influenced by sponsorships and other factors beyond pure customer reviews. We have found the ability to rank so high over a large number of customer reviews helps differentiate the best and brightest from the rest of the pack. We take Google rankings at face value – there may be a slightly lower ranking in the mix but they need to be rounded up to 5.0 by Google to qualify for our list.

Strong management team and experience – low turnover – team has extensive networking and cybersecurity experience. They further provide 24/7 service. Tagline: “Your Boutique Partner. 2. CyberDuo has 57, 5-star ratings on Google. Locations in New York City and California. Focuses on cybersecurity across its offerings They offer 24/7 helpdesk, proactive IT management, and virtual chief information officer (VCIO) services. Tagline: “When the brightest IT and cybersecurity talent come together.”
3. ETech 7 has 22 5-star ratings on Google. Locations in New York City, Long Island and Queens. Provides managed IT services, desktop management, data security, and 24/7 helpdesk assistance. Tagline: “Reducing Downtime… Increasing Your Productivity”
4. M6iT Consulting has 56 5-star ratings on Google. Offers services such as proactive device management, employee lifecycle support, MDM deployment, software development and IT consulting for small and mid-sized businesses. Tagline: “An IT Consulting Firm For Today’s Intelligent Businesses.”
5. RCS Professional Services has 61, 5-star ratings on Google. Locations in New York City and Marietta, Georgia. Specializing in IT management and support, cybersecurity, and IT strategy consulting. Tagline: “Driving Client Success Through Innovation, Relationships, and a Company Culture Built by Empowered Employees.”
6. TEKConn  has 40, 5-star ratings on Google. Locations in New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut. Offering Managed Services, cloud computing, and IT support. Important from the website “Business IT is like a car: it makes new things possible for you and takes you where you need to go, but without the right person taking care of it, you’re stuck tearing your hair out on the side of the road.” Tagline “Simple. Reliable. Secure. Experience the relief of dependable IT. Less Stress. More Productivity. Happier Employees.”
7. Valiant  has 17, 5-star Google reviews They may be a good fit for companies in creative spaces such as Advertising/ PR/ Marketing Communication, Non-profit and Professional Service. If you have Macs in your company’s computer mix, they may be worth a call. Tagline: “Tech Excellence for the Creative, Innovative and Ambitious.”
