Oracle is buying software companies at a rapid clip and has also embraced open source and SIP. So if you combine acquisition with open source and VoIP you get Digium as a takeover candidate. Right? A the open source PBX leader Digium would be a perfect company to put in the portfolio of Oracle companies. What do you think?

April 18, 2006 at 8:57 pmWhy Digium? Oracle would be far better off if they looked at Pingtel. If anyone looks at the code they are writing at http://www.SIPfoundry.org they can experience how powerful the solution is and also see where Pingtel is going with their native 100% SIP approach. The features they are delivering clearly hit the mark for large enterprise and provide a greater market overlap with Oracle. I’ve used both Asterisk and sipxpbx and Asterisk is more of a tool kit while Pingtel has a real enterprise class product. Some company, maybe Oracle, who really understands SIP and has a strategic need for it, will end up taking Pingtel out.
