One of the more interesting vendors at Interop 2015 was Qualisystems as the company allows companies to automate many manual tasks in order to more efficiently develop, manage and deploy jobs in the cloud and on legacy computing environments. Alex Henthorn-Iwane, VP, Marketing explained his company designs solutions for non-programmer teams. Moreover, they help create an environment as a service – a set of cloud offerings for a private cloud. They take very complex infrastructure and make it more agile and continuous, like what they would run on Amazon AWS.
He went on to explain, quite often engineering has one cloud, testing has another and deployment could be in yet another cloud. At the end of the day the company’s CloudShell bridges legacy and cloud enabling DevOps.
It should be noted CloudShell is also an important facilitator of SDN and NFV-based networks which can scale to be huge and sprawl across various clouds. The good news for carriers is they will be able to use the tool to more effectively manage deployments of various networks functions such as firewalls or HSS.
Even though QualiSystems has a more esoteric product line – it isn’t tangible, it was one of my favorite things to see at Interop because this is the exact technology needed to scale cloud-based systems more efficiently through drag-and-drop meaning companies can spend less time on CLI and more on ROI.
