China Spam

Great news… China has signed onto and international antispam pact. After the US, China may be the worst offender in sending spam and about one in five spam messages are attributed to the country. Now is as good a time as any to tackle the issue. At last count I get about 300-500 spam messages a day. Oh Joy.

From Computerworld:

The London Action Plan, which was launched in October 2004, calls for increased investigative training, the establishment of points of contact between government authorities, and the creation of an international working group to coordinate the enforcement of antispam regulations. The initiative was intended to expand on international antispam efforts led by organizations, such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, DTI said.

China‘s representative to the London Action Plan will be Union Network Beijing, a group that was created to help enforce antispam regulations and fight the spread of computer viruses, DTI said.

China is not new to the fight against spam. In recent years, the Chinese government and industry, including the government-backed Internet Society of China, have stepped up efforts to crack down on unsolicited e-mails and spammers. To date, Chinese government bodies involved in antispam efforts include the Ministry of Information Industry (MII), which oversees the country’s technology industry, and the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), which oversees the country’s police force, among others.

You shout too much G. And seriously, surely you can find something better to do with your time than try to report Chinese spam to a government that would be better suited spending its time on the welfare of its people. Like maybe work on your web site or something, or buy a spam filter. Or get on a server that uses spam filters. Do porn site servers offer those or do you figure they think that’s kind of, well, hypocritical? Tell you what… send the Chinese an email about it.
And, um, if you’re really sick of it, why are you pretty much guranteeing your address will land on spam lists by posting it here?

    Please people…
if any of you were savy you would see that this is not the real person. He has posted 2 different email addresses using 2 different email names and host.
What he has done is put 2 peoples emails out there and the word “spam”..
His “cap” should have read ” Now taking app’s for rocket scientist” .. everyone of you would get hired… All of you win a big DUH..
The emails are placed in open spaces for bots or email spiders that search for emails .. once found they get added to a list that is bulk sent..
