Google Calendar Outage

Google Calendar is having an outage. See the error message below:

We broke the news on June 2nd about a Google Cloud outage which affected YouTube, Snapchat and other services.

In another post, we received commentary from Enzo Signore, CMO at FixStream about the outage – he discussed the potential for AIOps to help find problems in complex networks and fix them quickly.

We reached out to Google and inquired if they had any comments. They immediately responded with their status update page. We took a screenshot and posted it above.

We will update this post as the story develops.

This past weekend, we discussed the potential for intensifying cyberwar with Russia taking its toll on U.S. corporations but there is no evidence to suggest this is the case here. The last outage at Google Cloud had to do with human error – a misconfiguration.

Update: We have to give Google a tremendous amount of credit for their proactive response at 1:44 PM they sent this message:

The problem with Google Calendar and Hangouts Meet should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.
