Why Parloa, Why Now

We recently spoke with Chris Silver, who joined Parloa after a successful career at Five9. He explained that the decision was driven by a combination of timing, technology maturity, and company vision. Having helped scale Five9 from its early days to an enterprise-grade platform serving Fortune 10 clients, Silver was selective about his next opportunity.

He told us he was drawn to Parloa because of its ability to deliver not just advanced AI capabilities, but to do so in a way that meets the stringent requirements of global enterprises. That means compliance, security, privacy, and data residency—all of which are fundamental when supporting the world’s largest brands and their millions of customers.

Parloa, which began in Germany, built credibility in one of the most highly regulated regions in the world before expanding across Europe and into North America. This foundation allows the company to serve customers globally while respecting local requirements.

A few months back we were thrilled to report about the company’s teaming with Verint to bring the AI-Human hybrid workforce to the contact center.

The Case for Voice-First AI

Much of the discussion centered on the role of voice in customer experience. For years, industry watchers speculated that text-based channels would dominate, but Silver noted that the opposite has happened. Voice remains the highest revenue-generating channel in customer experience, and with the advent of agentic AI, its value has grown.

“The market has come full circle,” he said. “Voice is now more effective and efficient than ever, and people are actually preferring it. With the use of agentic technologies, customers are getting a better experience in some cases than they would from a human.”

This does not mean replacing humans entirely. Silver stressed that the best experiences come from synergy between AI and people. Customers want the reassurance that a live agent is available when needed, but most routine tasks can now be handled more effectively by AI. Parloa estimates that its platform can already manage more than 70% of the workload typically handled by human agents.

Multilingual at Scale

One of the biggest cost drivers in contact centers has always been multilingual agents. Bilingual and specialized language skills are expensive, especially for smaller populations. Parloa’s platform addresses this directly by providing natural, native-language interactions powered by AI.

This approach allows enterprises to deliver high-quality customer experiences globally without incurring prohibitive staffing costs. Silver described it as a way to “right size” multilingual support, ensuring that customers feel understood in their own language while companies gain cost savings and efficiency.

Early Traction and Growth

Although he has only been with Parloa for a short time, Silver has already seen the impact of the company’s approach. In his first quarter, Parloa achieved record-breaking results, with year-over-year growth exceeding four times previous levels and net revenue retention above 150%.

The company is already serving customers in 14 countries and is positioned to support far more across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. The partner and alliances strategy is also accelerating adoption, extending Parloa’s reach and enabling customers to benefit from a broader ecosystem of solutions.

What Companies Should Know About AI Agents

When we asked what companies should keep in mind when deploying customer-facing AI, Silver emphasized both capability and responsibility.

First, AI agents can already handle a majority of routine tasks. The challenge is not whether they can do the work but ensuring they do so reliably, securely, and in a way that aligns with brand values. Second, companies should resist treating AI as plug-and-play. Instead, they should invest in simulation, evaluation, and governance to avoid errors and maintain high standards.

Parloa has integrated these considerations into its platform, offering built-in simulations, scoring, and optimization tools. This ensures that AI deployments are not only powerful but also controlled, with the right guardrails in place.

Differentiation in a Crowded Market

In an increasingly competitive AI CX market, Parloa differentiates itself on three main fronts: performance in voice, enterprise readiness, and platform depth. Silver said that Parloa consistently wins head-to-head comparisons with competitors when it comes to voice accuracy and completion rates.

Equally important, the company’s ability to integrate with carrier-grade voice services, connectivity, and compliance requirements gives it credibility with the largest enterprises. Customers want a partner who can handle not just AI but the entire CX stack.

Finally, Parloa is committed to building a true platform rather than a point solution. The goal is to create a foundation where multiple products and services interconnect, giving customers the ability to grow with Parloa rather than grow out of it.

Looking Ahead

Parloa’s ambitions extend beyond customer experience. Silver explained that the roadmap includes employee experience and intra-company automation, with industry-specific solutions and certifications. By combining global scale, vertical expertise, and a platform approach, the company aims to provide enterprises with a sustainable, differentiated way to integrate AI into their operations.

As Silver put it, “AI is not just the future—it’s the present. Companies that don’t start now are already behind.”
