Bluetooth And Star Trek

Tom Keating writes today about bluetooth headset adoption and I couldn’t agree more., I have been meaning to write about this for a while. I was reviewing these things years ago – since Jabra came out with one of the first units. It is satisfying to see widespread adoption now.

Although the pace of innovation and technology must have been tough for Gene Roddenberry to predict as Tom so accurately mentions, we still don’t have phasers. We have Tasers but not phasers. When I get my phaser pistol – type two of course, the kind that can destroy all sorts of rock-dwelling creatures… That is when I will have a party. You just never know when you’ll have to fire on a rock-dwelling organism just prior to mind-melding with it and eventually using your surgeon/bricklayer companion to heal it.

Ahh… Those were the days.

Oh – and those silicon nodules. Be careful where you step.

I was emailing William Shatner for years with an idea for a “Kahn II” movie. All they had to do was have a Klingon fleet warp back in time to obtain the genesis and Kahn and warp back into future, and the whole story would unfold. Spock can explain away Kirk’s death somehow.
