Tealium Continues Customer Data Orchestration Push With Funding, Hires

It’s been a wild ride for Tealium -we started covering them as far back as 2008 when we wrote about their CRM integrator for SugarCRM. The company de-silos customer data within your organization.

Continuing with this mission, they now bring a universal approach to customer data orchestration – spanning web, mobile, offline and Internet of Things devices. Tealium offers a turnkey integration ecosystem supporting more than 1,000 client-side and server-side vendors and technologies. The Tealium Universal Data Hub encompasses tag management, API hub, customer data platform, and data management solutions that enable organizations to leverage real-time data to create richer, more personalized digital experiences across every team, technology, and customer touchpoint.

This past May, the company raised $55M to expand the company’s data integration ecosystem, accelerate new product development and further scale global go-to-market activities, while continuing its mission to expand data freedom across the enterprise while safeguarding privacy.

Tealium has received more than $160 million in total funding to date.

The Tealium AudienceStream customer data platform (CDP), which launched in 2013, has experienced accelerated growth in recent years, notably seeing a 300% year-over-year increase in visitor profiles created. This purpose-built platform is designed to provide enterprises with a single view of their customers, serving as a secure central point of management across the entire data supply chain. Tealium connects customer data across technology stacks and digital assets, including websites, mobile applications, point-of-sale (POS) systems and call centers, enabling data freedom and agility across the organization.

Most recently, the company announced Sav Khetan as vice president of product, and Dave Lucas as senior director of product. The newly appointed leaders will play a critical role in customer engagement, strengthening Tealium’s offerings in 2019 and beyond.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of the company,” said Mike Anderson, co-founder and CTO of Tealium. “Our recent funding round is a testament to enterprises’ need for unified, accessible data across the organization and is an opportunity to supercharge business growth. We are proud to welcome Khetan and Lucas to the team so we can further live out our mission to be the comprehensive customer data orchestration solution on the market.”

“This could not be a more motivating time for me to join the industry, and specifically Tealium,” said Khetan. “The data layer is the single most critical layer in the marketing technology stack, and Tealium built a customer data platform (CDP) when no one knew what it was. The company has always been able to see what others cannot, and I’m incredibly excited to work in this data layer and maximize the Tealium’s product growth.”

“In my former role, my company chose Tealium for our data orchestration and the customer experience was unmatched,” said Lucas. “It’s incredibly exciting to now play an instrumental part in growing the company’s products, and ensuring that customers have the same unparalleled experiences that I did. Tealium already has exceptional products, but I look forward to pushing the boundaries of how we can serve enterprises even better.”

Data orchestration is more critical by the day in part because of the BYOD nature of today’s organization. Silo after silo within organizations use their own software systems to manage customer data. Often, these solutions -do not interoperate with each other, meaning data becomes disjointed.

This is the Tealium opportunity – they fill an important role in data harmonization.
