A few vertical markets hopping on the VoIP bandwagon are universities and hotels. Here is an article about how NEC is penetrating both markets. The smaller IP PBX companies have done a good job focusing on vertical markets such as financial, hospitality, etc.

November 29, 2006 at 10:45 amIt’s also interesting to note the timing of such institutions’ convergence strategies. As larger orgs such as banks are already reaping the benefits and adequate case studies exist, the time of the mid-term adopter is upon us.
Commercial use aside, IP based communications and the whole “everything over IP” paradigm are less of a revolution than a matter of fact. Institutions are the next wave, the “mid-termers”, following in the early adopters’ footsteps stand to benefit from freindlier prices, case knowledge, and an easier executive sell.
