American Airlines WiFi

For better or worse I spend a great deal of time on airplanes. Interestingly the airplane is the last place where I can work with limited interruptions. Of course this doesn’t include flight attendants telling me to put my backrest up or down and the passenger next to me who may need to get up or spill a drink on my leg.
I write much of the content you read on airplanes and with limited interruptions; I can get quite a lot of writing done in this fashion.
It seems these days may come to an end as American Airlines will now offer broadband access on their flights.
I view the news with mixed-emotions but am sure the productivity of the nation will increase when knowledge workers who travel have full access while in the air.
So the upside is I will respond to e-mails more rapidly but be able to generate less content. Such is life I guess.

American will have the service, but it is our choice on whether to use it. I personally find that having long stretches of time on a plane lets me work on projects like product planning that benefit from the lack of interruptions.

James, I do agree with you but the Blackberry effect will definitely take hold. What do I mean? Once we got Blackberrys, many people were expected to be connected 24×7. The same will eventually happen with flying.
    Sad but the unfortunate reality.
