Should SaaS Vendors Be More Accountable?
Google had an outage in its office application division today. One wonders how they haven’t had something similar happen with their search engine but the docs and spreadsheets were affected. I would imagine if both Amazon and Google are having problems keeping their SaaS/cloud computing house in order — when will companies feel truly comfortable relying on them for such services?
I have to admit that the cost savings of using such services is compelling but when you have a noon deadline today for a million dollar order and you can’t access your spreadsheet for 2 hours, are you really saving money?
