Facebook Buys Servicefriend for the Future of Work

Future of Work (FoW) is the overarching term which describes how society will stay productive in the days ahead. There are numerous concepts encompassed in FoW – we describe them here but perhaps the most important subset is the democratization of AI. In other words, harnessing AI, allowing more workers to take advantage of this amazing technology which includes machine learning.

Chatbots, in particular, are an amazing way to increase the productivity of organizations.

In 2017 we reported the ecommerce lingerie company Adore Me was using Servicefriend in its Facebook chat interactions.

Facebook is aware of this – they are no strangers to AI and as such realize the potential of merging the best of the artificial and real intelligence worlds.

To that end, they have purchased Servicefriend, a company which builds hybrid chatbots.

TechCrunch surmises this technology will be integrated into Facebook’s Calibra digital wallet. This may be the case but we see the opportunity well beyond a single product. We can see Facebook rolling out this tech to businesses using Facebook – allowing them to interact with customers in a more automated fashion.

Either way, the future of work is getting closer and new technologies like AI and ML are making workers and companies more productive and efficient.

Where do organizations go to learn more? The world’s only Future of Work Expo (collocated with the ITEXPO #TechSuperShow) of course. Feb 12-14, 2020 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
